Vintage, also known as retro-style suits, are ideal to be combined as a whole but also comfortable to wear separately. This three-piece vintage suit combines a Blue Blazer with Orange Overcheck - Donegal Tweed Vest - Navy Blue Woolen Pants into a cohesive ensemble.
It is important to use the right fabrics for such vintage outfits, which often have a fuller texture and heavier weight than what we find in stores today. British weaving mills such as Bateman & Ogden from Bradford offer a wide range of such fabrics.
Another important point is that less is more. So, no extravagant designs, but possibly style and model options that belong to the respective time period. Vintage suits often refer to the era between 1920 and 1950, with influences from Great Gatsby, Citizen Kane, and Art Deco. This, of course, combined with a handmade, artisanal suit with a good personal fit.
This blazer is made from a 315-gram wool, specifically a semi-milled Flannel wool, making it very soft. Therefore, it is also supple and comfortable to wear. The orange check pattern is beaded, consisting of dots with space in between, giving it a distinguished appearance. The blazer model is constructed with a full canvas (floating canvas), 2 buttons, notch lapels, and slanted pockets to accentuate the waist.
The vest is made of plain burgundy donegal (Tweed). Its red color complements the orange in the blazer, creating a pleasant visual connection.
The pants are made of Navy POW with a blue overcheck. The pattern is subtle enough to be noticeable only up close. Thus, various patterns can be combined in one vintage suit.
