Wedding Suit ‘50s Style

Many of our clients draw inspiration from the past for their wedding suits. The 1950s serve as a beautiful source for classic suits.
During that time, the style was characterized by a looser fit and models without frills. The strength lay in simplicity, but there was a great preference for structured fabrics.
This Taupe wedding suit is designed for a summer wedding on the island of Reunion with a highly classical theme. Given the high temperature there and the desire to be comfortable during the wedding, the fabric deserves special attention.
The fabric is from the Fresco collection by J.J. Minnis / Huddersfield Fine Worsteds, patented in 1907 and still a worldwide favorite for breathable, wrinkle-resistant suits that are hard-wearing (can be worn intensively and are durable).
Fresco fabrics are high-twist open-weave fabrics. This means that multiple yarns are used to weave the fabric, creating space between the threads and allowing air to easily pass through. The high-twist weaving method also makes the fabric strong and wrinkle-free. Such fabrics often feel harder and stiffer than, for example, worsted wool.
Various weights are available, so Fresco fabrics are also often used in colder temperatures, primarily due to their wrinkle-resistant properties and a sturdier appearance, similar to Mohair.
With lighter weights of Fresco, it is not advisable to leave the jacket or blazer unlined because the fabric may become see-through.
